Charlotte Helen Olds, 75, of Owatonna, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 10, 1940 in Todd County, Minnesota, the daughter of Gorman and Helen (Block) Bratsch. She graduated from Browerville High School. Charlotte was united in marriage to Jack Olds on July 24, 1958 in Bertha, Minnesota. They moved to Owatonna in 1959 and Charlotte stayed home to raise her three daughters. As the children grew, she worked at the Steele County Assessor's Office until her retirement.
Charlotte was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Eagles Auxiliary where she volunteered. She enjoyed fishing, boating, playing cards, gambling, and traveling. She volunteered at the VFW Thanksgiving Community Dinner alongside her husband, Jack. She was an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed country music, gardening, sewing, and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Olds of Owatonna; daughters, Diana Olds Overton of Mantorville, Lori Long (and Ron Dallaire) of Blooming Prairie, Lisa (and Paul) Prestegard of Claremont; six grandchildren, Ryan (and Crystal ) Prestegard, Danielle Prestegard (and Nicholas Klinkner), David Long, Rachel Long (and Trevor Abrego), Jared Overton, and Bryton Overton; six great grandchildren, Charlotte, Kendra, Louella, Ryker, Meredith, and Taiven; brother, Kenneth (and Ann) Bratsch of Fairmount, GA; sister, Stella Robben of Staples; extended family
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Melvin Bratsch, and brother-in-law, Richard Robben.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Memorials are preferred to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
