Christine "Chris" M. Bouwman, age 44, of Albert Lea, died suddenly on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her home. Christine Marie Bouwman was born on July 15, 1975, in Willmar, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Honken) Bouwman. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1993. Chris worked as a general manager for Perkins in the Twin Cities area for several years. She was currently working as an apartment complex manger in Albert Lea. Chris had a love for all animals. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping and visiting state parks. She was known for being caring, thoughtful, generous and loyal. Chris enjoyed spending time with her family. Chris is survived by her fiancé, Jared Leonard and daughter, MaKenzie Leonard both of Albert Lea; parents, Ken Bouwman of Granite Falls and Dorothy Bouwman of Owatonna; sister, Brenda (Ron) Hager of Owatonna; brother, Daryl Bouwman of Owatonna; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Dylan Radel) Hager, Cody (Jamie) Hager, Cassandra and Jessica Hager, Amara Bouwman, Alixxandra and Aryanna Purdie- Bouwman and Jonathan Bouwman; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Janette Bouwman; maternal grandparents, Herman and Sarah Honken; niece, Kristin Wrobleski; great-niece, Audriannah Brown; two aunts and one uncle. A private family graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
