Christine Lee (Deming) Davis, 34, of Owatonna, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 25, 1979 in Owatonna, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Karen (Hanson) and William Grubisch and Michael Deming. She graduated Owatonna High School in 1997 and was the first mascot for the Owatonna Huskies from 9th to 12th grade. She attended travel agent classes at the Central Lake College in Brainerd. Christine pursued her love of travel, traveling worldwide, especially to the Caribbean. In 2001, she returned to Owatonna where she worked for a couple local travel agencies. On January 12, 2013 Christine married the love of her life, Harry Davis, in Owatonna. Christine also enjoyed sports. She was active in coaching her daughter, Kya''s, volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She was a volleyball referee. She also participated in co-ed softball, volleyball, and kickball. Christine was a big promoter and active spokesperson for cancer awareness. She served on the board and also served as co-chair of Steele County Relay For Life. She was a recipient of Run From The Heart, and named Person of Hope for the last Daffodil Days. Her enthusiasm, spirit of adventure, and love for life will be truly missed. She is survived by her husband, Harry Davis of Owatonna; daughter, Kya Dixon of Owatonna; parents, Karen (and William) Grubisch of Owatonna, and Michael Deming of Plant City, FL; sister, Ashley Grubisch of Owatonna; brother Aaron Grubisch of Owatonna; grandparents, Shirley Deming of Owatonna; aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kenyana Dixon and grandparents, Arnold and Jurene Hanson, and Sterling Deming. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Bixby. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Christine Davis family.
