Christopher B. Burns, 47, of Owatonna, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his home. He was born July 20, 1965 in Owatonna, the son of Susan Burns-Robertson and the late William Burns. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1983. At the age of 15, he began working for his parents business, Burns Plumbing and Heating, where he worked along side his dad as an apprentice plumber. He earned his journeyman's license then his master plumber's license at the age of 22. He married Heidi Tesch on November 5, 1988 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In 1993, he started his own business, Premier Plumbing and Heating. Chris cared very deeply and always put his children first. He was highly involved with Special Olympics, where he was instrumental in starting both poly hockey and flag football programs, as well as being head coach. Chris was extremely talented. He loved taking pictures and videos, playing the guitar, and cruising in his dune buggy. He also was an avid sports card collector. He enjoyed the outdoors and designed and built the ponds at his home. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Heidi Burns of Owatonna; four children, Kyle, Brittany, Alex, and Emily all of Owatonna; mother, Susan (and Curt) Robertson of Owatonna; brothers, Corey (and Katie) Burns of Waseca, Cameron Burns of Owatonna; sister, Chelsea (and Dan) Soller of Owatonna; stepsister, Kristin Robertson of Kenyon; stepbrother, Christopher Robertson of Owatonna; grandmother, Elsie Schultz of Faribault; parents-in-law, Mark and Roxanne Tesch of Blooming Prairie; brother-in-law, Brian Tesch of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Tammy (and Dale) Jensen of Rochester; three nieces and six nephews, Sydney, Sondra, Shelby, Ethan, Andrew, Colby, Wylie, Colton, and Nolan. He was preceded in death by his father, William Burns, and grandparents, Edward Schultz, and John and Vivian Burns. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Monday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Reverend Kirk Griebel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
