Christopher Joseph Kenow, 59, of Owatonna, died Monday, August 26, 2019 at his home.
He was born May 21, 1960 in Owatonna the son of Donald and Mary (Stevens) Kenow. Chris was raised by his mom and step dad, Tom Rions. He graduated from Owatonna High School and attended vo-tech school for his boilers license. On May 22, 1982, he married Kristine Stark. Chris worked for OMC and King Co. prior to moving to Wadena where he worked at an assisted living facility and managed the SuperValu Grocery Store. Chris returned to Owatonna with his family and worked for Cabela's for a short time.
Chris was able to fix anything and willingly shared that gift by helping others. He was an avid collector of many things including stamps, knives and rocks; especially heart shaped rocks for his wife. He loved carving and wood working. Chris was a former member of the Eagle's Club and pool league in Owatonna. He was a golden gloves boxer, member, and coach of the local boxing association.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kristine Kenow of Owatonna; daughters, Cassie (and Aaron) Culver, Carly Kenow both of Owatonna; grandchildren, Beary, Jackson, Ava, Marley, Miles; sisters, Debbie (and Pete) deGeus of Rochester, Kathy (and Tim) Ulrich of Owatonna; brother, Dan (and Pat) Kenow of Owatonna, Greg (and Kristy) Kenow of Winona, Steve (and Julie) Kenow of Black River Falls, WI; sister in law, Nancy Kenow of Henderson, NV and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kenow Rions; father, Donald Kenow; step-father, Tom Rions; brother, Mike Kenow; nephew, Scott Ulrich.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held August 30, 2019 at 2pm at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Jacie Richmond officiating.
