Cindy Lou Hovland, 61, of Owatonna, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at her home. She was born January 9, 1957 in Owatonna, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Eunice (Johnson) Colmer. She attended school in West Concord. She married Charles Smith and had their daughter, Ellie, and later divorced. She married Troy Hovland on February 24, 1989 in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna and had two sons, Dylan and Dalton. Cindy always worked at a job where she could serve people, from waitressing to nursing assistant. Her desire was to help people in any way she could. She had a unique sense of humor, was strong in character and always looked on the positive side of life. Even with her cancer diagnosis, nothing ever held her back. She enjoyed visiting with everyone, canning, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Troy Hovland of Owatonna; daughter, Ellie (and Kirk) Aronson of Claremont; sons, Dylan Hovland of Owatonna and Dalton (and Tianna) Hovland of Owatonna; brothers, Roger (and Lee) Stennes of Owatonna and Pete (and Jane) Stennes of New Richland; sister, Naomi (and Brian) Bohlman of Dodge Center; grandchildren, Katie (and Chad), Tommie, Codie, Ashlie, Kayla and Steven; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Tahlon, Temperance, Skyler, Preston and Tanner and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eunice; brothers, Steven Stennes and Keith Colmer and sister, Donna Wallace. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday, July 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on one hour prior to the service. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Private interment will be at a later date in Moland Lutheran Cemetery rural Kenyon.
