Clarice Joann Morkre, 68, of Wanamingo, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Red Wing Hospital. She was born June 6, 1944 in Faribault, Minnesota the daughter of Helmer and Sadie (Davidson) Morkre. She was baptized and confirmed at Stordahl Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota where she was a lifelong member. Clarice grew up on the family farm south of Wanamingo and attended country school. She loved the animals, especially the cats and dogs. She started attending the DAC (day activity center) in Wanamingo in 1974. She moved to Rochester in 1992 and worked at Ability Enterprises where she won numerous employee awards. In 2009 Clarice moved to Riverside Services home in Wanamingo where she has resided until her death. After her move to Wanamingo, Clarice attended the Day Program at Opportunity Services in Kasson twice a week. Clarice enjoyed socializing with friends and eating out and often responded to invitations with 'holy buckets.' She was a champ in the card game UNO. She is survived by her cousins Judy (Jim) Stoner, Mike (Portia) Davidson, Dorothy Davidson, John Davidson Jr, and Jeff (Karen) Davidson. She is also survived by her Riverview Services family and friends who were very important to her. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents Helmer in 1972 and Sadie in 2000. Visitation will be at Stordahl Lutheran Church on Saturday March 2, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 2, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Stordahl Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathleen Lowery officiating. Interment will be in the Stordahl Lutheran Cemetery. The family of Clarice wants to thank the caring staff at Riverview Services and Pam Mercer from Goodhue County for their concerns and care of Clarice over the years. Memorials are preferred to Riverview Services or Stordahl Lutheran Church. Michaelson Funeral Home of Kenyon is handling arrangements.
