Clement F.Clem Schroeder, 92, of Owatonna died July 9th at Koda Living Community in Owatonna. Clem was born in Owatonna on April 3, 1922 to Otto H and Bertha (Mueller) Schroeder. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1940 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942. He served during World War II on the USS Louisville in all the major battles of Pacific from the Aleutian Islands to the Philippines. After being discharged in 1946 he studied printing at Mankato Vo-Tech and Dunwoody. He went into business with his father and later became owner and operator of The Schroeder Press until his retirement in 1990. On September 4, 1946 Clem married Marilyn (Schrader) in Northfield, MN at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they raised three amazing children and built the home they lived in for 58 years. Clem enjoyed traveling, photography, videography, and singing in the church choir for 78 years, he also sang with the Owatonna Community Choir and with the Golden Tones for many years. Clem was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Golden K Kiwanis, VFW, American Legion, Golden Tones, Senior Place, Owatonna Community Choir and Barbershop Quartets. In 2006, he was received the Steele County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award. Proceeded in death by parents, Otto H and Bertha (Mueller) Schroeder, and three sisters, Lois McKinley, Donna Kuehnert and Janet Eschenbach. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marilyn, two daughters Ruth (David) Duffy of Deephaven, Jean (Brian) Gross of Maple Grove, son Jim (Linda) Schroeder of Owatonna. Six grandchildren Dan (Natasha) Schroeder, Sarah (Paul) Buttera, Jill Duffy, Marissa Duffy, Rachel Gross, Brandon Gross and three great grandchildren Michael, Madison and Mauer. Funeral services will be held Monday July 14, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Reverend Mark Rosenau officiating. Visitation will be Sunday July 13, 2014 from 2-5 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, Lutheran hour or donor's choice.
