Obituary

Clifford T. Elmore Sr., 80, of St. Cloud, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was born January 1, 1931 in Anawalt, West Virginia the son of Lewis and Lottie (Rose) Elmore. He enlisted in the Army and met Rosella Elsner, his wife of almost 60 years. Clifford and Rosella were married on October 30, 1951 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. After his honorable discharge from the service, Cliff was employed by the City of Owatonna, and then delivered freight for Murphy Motor Freight. He later went on to be a Manager at the Owatonna Cedar Mall. Cliff always lived by the motto, 'Service to mankind is the best work of life.' He was Captain of Civil Defense, President of the Roosevelt School PTA, President of Jaycees, served on the Golf Commission, and served on the City Counsel for Owatonna. When Clifford and Rosella retired to Iowa, he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and building an addition at the church he attended. Cliff lived life to the fullest and had a passion for Golf, Cards especially cribbage, and country music. He and Rosella organized Christmas parties for the residents of the nursing homes in Owatonna for several years. Later, they were recognized for their efforts with the Book of Golden Deeds Award. Their names are engraved on the steps at the Owatonna Courthouse. He is survived by his wife, Rosella of St. Cloud; eight children, Clifford Jr. (and Connie) Elmore of Owatonna, Debbie Broughten of Waterloo, IA, Susan (and Dale) Wacek of Claremont, Kathy Nelson (Matt Firebaugh) of Owatonna, Beth Scholz (Todd Palmer) of Lincoln, NE, Patty (and Paul) McIntyre of St. Joseph, Lottie (and Derrick) Edwards of Owatonna, and Jim (and Stacy) Elmore of Faribault; 22 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Glenn of Pennsylvania and Evelyn (and Donald) Enzenaur of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Lottie, 15 siblings, and grandson, Richard Wacek. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM . Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
