Obituary

Clinton L. Elton, 87, of Owatonna, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at Prairie Manor Care Center, Blooming Prairie. Clinton was born June 21, 1924 in Lemond Twsp., Minnesota the son of Adolph and Anna (Nelson) Elton. He was raised in Lemond Township and there attended country school. He then worked for area farmers before entering the United States Navy in May 1944. He served overseas during WWII and received his honorable discharge in May of 1946. He returned to Owatonna and was united in marriage to Catherine Mens on June 19, 1947 in Associated Church. They made their home in Owatonna where he worked a short while at Josten''s and later for Riverside Plumbing. In 1951 he began working for Gasner-Mac and later for McCarthy Plumbing where he worked as a plumber for 37 years. Clinton enjoyed playing cards at the pool hall, fishing and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren picking them up after school and taking them to the library and to the parks. While at Prairie Manor he often went on trips to Diamond Joe''s, the Hubbell House and other field trips. He was a life member of the VFW of Owatonna. He is survived by his wife Catherine Elton of Owatonna; two daughters, Jackie Elton of Owatonna; Mary (and Scot) Deno of Owatonna; two sons, Mark Elton of Fort Meyers Beach, FL; Mike (and Judy) Elton of Chisago City; a sister, Lavonne Racek of Owatonna; a brother Gerald Elton in Illinois; seven grandchildren, Molly (and Jeff) Bromert; Mandy Elton; Joe Elton; Jeff (and fianc Ashley) Elton; Charles (and Erin) Eltonga; Alex Deno and Ali Paulson. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren. Clinton was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brian Elton. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials preferred to Prairie Manor Care Center or donor''s choice.
