Colin James Piper, 18, of Owatonna, died Saturday, February 9, 2012, at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota due to complications from a severe asthma attack. He was surrounded by his friends and family. He was born September 5, 1994 in LaGrange, GA. He was a senior at Owatonna High School. He worked at the Pizza Ranch and Kasper''s Dairy until recently when he started working at Bosch Automotive part time after school. Colin played youth hockey in Owatonna for many years. He was an avid Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved spending hours on end playing X-Box with his friends. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, Frisbee golf, going to movies and spending time with friends and family. His favorite place to visit was Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his parents Nikki Gieseke (and Jeff), Scott Piper (and Becky Morrison) his sister, Holly Piper, two brothers, Drake and Trevor Gieseke,(all of Owatonna), many grandparents, uncles, aunts ,cousins and many friends including his best friend, Jake Kaplan (Owatonna). He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Domingo Garza, his great grandmother, Velma Bowman and his grandfather, Jerry VanOort. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 13, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at The Associated Church on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held February 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at The Associated Church with Dr. Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred to cover medical expenses.
