Corleen Kay Stephan, 73, of Owatonna, died suddenly Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Owatonna Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1947 in Artesia, California the daughter of Cornelius and Wilmina (Fiske) Gaalswyk. She attended Vo-Tech school in Brainerd after high school. While working as a server at Elray Truck Stop in Motley, she met Thomas Stephan. They were united in marriage on August 7, 1971 in Brainerd. Corleen worked at the Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park and Lakeside Packing Co in Plainview before they moved to Owatonna in 1975. While living in Owatonna, Corleen provided day care, worked at Josten's, Wal-Mart, OTC and Cabelas.
Corleen was a member of Bethel Church for many years. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends, sewing and walking her dogs, Lucy & Ali. Corleen cherished the time she spent with her only grandchild, Jackson. She loved to take him for ice cream or other special get-aways.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Stephan of Owatonna; children, Ahern Stephan, Emily Stephan, Justen (and Amanda) Stephan all of Owatonna; grandson, Jackson Stephan of Owatonna; step mother, Clarice Gaalswyk of Motley; brothers, Edlin (and Donna) Gaalswyk of Duluth, Chuck Gaalswyk of Two Harbors, Dale (and Janine) Gaalswyk of Dundas, David (and Jennifer) Gaalswyk of Brainerd; sister, Rieda (and Mark) Baer of Alberta, Canada and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and at Bethel Church on Friday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2pm at Bethel Church with Pastor Micheal Simmerman officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
