C.R. Bud Forsberg, age 94, of Kenyon, MN, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon.
Bud was born on July 5, 1923 at Kasota, Minnesota to Ernest and Elise (Olson) Forsberg. He graduated from Kasota High School in 1941. His first job was at J.C. Penny in St. Peter, MN where he worked from 1941 to 1943. He entered the Army Air Force in April 1943 and was honorably discharged in December 1945. He served as an aviation Cadet and later played trombone in the Air Force Bands and Orchestras. In 1946, he moved to Kenyon and joined his uncle as partner at Coast to Coast Hardware Store and became the sole owner in 1949. On April 4, 1948, he married Joan Osdal at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon. Bud retired in 1987 and sold the store to long-time employee Jerry Houglum. He was a member of First Lutheran Church serving on the council and singing in the choir for 60 years, the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, a 50 year member of the Lions Club , was Cubscout Master for several years, served on the Kenyon Development Corporation and the Kenyon Municipal Utilities Corporation for over 30 years. In retirement, Bud and Joan enjoyed winters in Texas and spending time at the lake cabin. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing gardening and traveling. One of his favorite hobbies was wood carving.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joan; sons, Terry (Rollie), Scott (Cyndi) and Mark (MJ) six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Joan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Russ.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Julie Rogness and Timothy Bowman will officiate. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon.
