Dale Henry Lebahn, 85, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.
Dale was born February 3, 1929 in Madison, South Dakota the son of Henry and Selma (Beyer) Lebahn. Dale and his family moved to Meriden, Minnesota in 1936. He attended grade school in Meriden and attended high school in Owatonna. He assisted his father in their trucking business for several years. Dale married Mary Jean Zacharias on August 11, 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meriden. He served in the United States Army for two years and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Coast-to-Coast Store for several years, then for Hummel and Anderson, and later for Spitzack Lumber Co. all of Owatonna. He later shared a business, Country-Side Millwork and Construction, with his brother-in-law, Luverne Zacharias, for several years. For 20 years, Dale and his wife owned and managed Mineral Springs Board and Lodge, Inc.
Dale and his family were very active in showing Tennessee Walking Horses. They started showing their first TWH horse in 1981. Later they opened Walking-L-Stables with their daughter, Jean Marie Rocky, as the trainer. They remained active showing horses in several states until 2007 and then became a horse boarding facility. He has been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meriden, since he moved here in 1936.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Jeanie Lebahn of Owatonna, daughter and son-in-law, Jean Marie and Gary Good of Medford; grandson, Shane Lebahn of Owatonna and grandson, Ryan Good of Medford.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald, his parents, and two infant brothers.
Private family graveside service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Meriden. Military honors will be conducted by Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Home Care and Hospice. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
