Dale Lavern Louks, 61, of Owatonna, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home in Owatonna. He was born January 13, 1952 in Rochester, Minnesota the son of Caroll and Shirley (Smith) Louks. He graduated from Claremont High School in 1971. He worked at Tubco for two years. He then worked at the Owatonna Canning Company for 19 years and retired due to poor health. He married Bonjonette Ripka on May 17, 1975 at the First Baptist Church in Owatonna. They lived in Claremont and moved to Owatonna in 1977. Dale was a Gift of Life recipient. He received a new kidney and pancreas on March 17, 1994 at the University of Minnesota. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Dale loved the holidays and would decorate the home for each occasion. He played fetch daily with his companion dogs, Duke and Stomper. He is survived by his wife, Bonjonette "Bonji" Louks of Owatonna; son, Lanny Louks of Owatonna; mother, Shirley Louks of Claremont; three brothers, Lonnie Louks of Owatonna, Steve ( and Jan) Louks of Ellendale, Jeff (and Barb) Louks of Claremont; one sister, Kelly Lyke of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, Caroll, and nephew, Ryan Louks. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Walerius officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
