Daniel Alvarez, 76, born in Donna, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022 in Owatonna, MN at Benedictine Living Community.
Daniel was a hard-working man that loved and served his country. After his Navy service he returned to the Rio Grande Valley where he worked as a foreman for the citrus industry during its prime era. He later worked in his profession as a diesel mechanic and continued after retirement by helping others. He had a strong character and a big heart; making friends wherever he went. Daniel was always available and ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He loved music, his guitars and often sang and composed music when he wasn't inventing something new.
He is survived by his three daughters: Roxana (Steve) Martin Owatonna, MN, Magda Alvarez Frankfurt, Germany, Donna Rangel Greenville, SC; 5 grandchildren Skyler, Rena, Kevin, Mia, Rema and 2 great-grandchildren Myles and Theo.
Daniel's living siblings: Pedro Alvarez Donna, Tx, Maria Jesus Garza Weslaco, Tx, Adela (Mike) Cantu Donna, Tx, Paula (Frank) Tamez SanJuan, Tx, Connie (Rick) Rivera Spring, Tx, Carlos Alvarez Donna, Tx, brother-in-law Juan Tristan Weslaco, Tx and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luis & Carmen Alvarez Donna, Tx, and siblings Esther (Villarreal), Emma (Tristan), Eloy Alvarez, brothers-in-law Efrain Garza & Reyes Villarreal, sister-in-law Amelia Alvarez.
The family is eternally grateful to Benedictine Living Community and Allina Hospice of Owatonna for doing their best in making Daniel's last days happy ones. Their dedication, loving care and sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
Church services and Memorial will be held in Donna, Texas at a date yet to be determined.
