Darlene Mae Houdek, 76, of Owatonna, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Waseca Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1934 in Faribault the daughter of Herman and Lillian (Meyer) Wille. Darlene graduated from Kenyon High School with the Class of 1951. She married Joseph Houdek October 1, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following their marriage, the couple farmed together in Lemond Township. In 1962, they moved their farm to Meriden Township. They retired in 1993 and continued to live on the farm. Darlene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She belonged to the Steele County Historical Society where she enjoyed volunteering her time. Darlene spent a lot of time dancing, fishing and watching races with her husband. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, yard work and playing cards. Darlene is survived by daughter, Bonnie Houdek of Owatonna; sons, Dan Houdek of New Richland, Ron (and Sarah) Houdek of Owatonna; 3 granddaughters; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Duane 'Bud' Wille of Surprise, AZ and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4pm to 7pm and at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with The Reverend John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
