Darlene S. Springer, 67, of Owatonna, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Traditions, Owatonna from Pick''s Dementia. Darlene was born May 7, 1943 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Pichner) Dostal. She was raised and attended school in Owatonna, graduating from Owatonna High School in 1961. On May 2, 1964 she married her high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Dale Springer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They made their home near Owatonna. For many years Darlene was a homemaker and was also employed at Federated Insurance. Darlene had many hobbies. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, needlepoint, reading, traveling, hiking and being outdoors. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and in her earlier years, she served on the Women''s Council and also taught Sunday school. She is survived by her husband, Dale Springer of Owatonna; three daughters, Pamela (and Brian) Raichle of Owatonna; Cathy (and Corey) Phelps of New Prague; Jennifer (and Brad) Thompson of Fort Collins, CO; her mother, Margaret Dostal of Owatonna; a brother, Darrell (and Joan) Dostal of Potosi, MO; a sister, Carol Arndt of Owatonna; and five grandchildren, Nicholas and Alex Raichle, Mathew Phelps, and Aidan and Marek Thompson. Darlene was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday, June 21, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with The Reverend John Sauer officiating. A private family interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the Owatonna Public Library.
