Darrel H. Bruessel 79, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his home. He was born April 24, 1935 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Lyle and Elenora (Steffen) Bruessel. Graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1952, and then graduated from Minnesota School of Business. He was also with the Air Force National Guard as a reserve. Darrel married Delores Dohrmann November 12, 1955 in Pine Island. Darrel worked for Jostens for many years retiring in 1981. Darrel started farming in 1970, and enjoyed farming while still working at Jostens. Darrel was a very active person who liked to always be on the go. He was involved with Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, Steele County Historical Society, Golden Tones, Senior Place, and Car Nuts. Darrel enjoyed cooking, gardening of his flowers and vegetables, card playing and going to Hy-Vee for his morning coffee. He is survived by his children Roxanne (Craig) Goetz of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeff (Carla) Bruessel of Medford, and his three grandchildren Christa, Jessica, and Joel Bruessel. He is also survived by his brother Loren (Mary) Bruessel of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Delores on November 14, 2011. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home today June 26, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday June 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Haugen officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
