Obituary

Darrell Reuben Ebeling, 89, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Koda Living Community. He was born December 23, 1927 in Owatonna, the son of Reuben and Edna (Anderson) Ebeling. Darrell attended rural school district #39 and was a member of the Meriden Skippers 4H Club. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1945. Darrell served in Korea with the US Army 1st Cavalry Division and later in Japan. On September 5, 1953, Darrell married Marilyn Mihlenbeck at Associated Church in Owatonna. Darrell worked at Tanner's Owatonna Chicken Hatchery until it closed in 1957. He then was employed at Josten's in the Class Ring Casting Department of the jewelry division where he worked for 37 years. Darrell retired in 1994. Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling in his earlier years. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ebeling of Owatonna; children, Douglas (and Jonell) Ebeling of Owatonna, Cynthia Ebeling of South St. Paul, Gregory Ebeling of Faribault, Bruce (and Brenda) Ebeling of Waseca; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Reuben (and LaDonna) Ebeling of Owatonna, James (and Carole) Ebeling of Owatonna; sister, Marlene (and Herman) Gabbert of Foley and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters and 2 sisters. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Private services with interment will be held at the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna with Military Honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
