Darrell K. Nuzum, 78, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Owatonna Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1936 in Little Sioux, Iowa the son of Harold and Valeria (Gahm) Nuzum. Darrell graduated high school in 1955 from Blencoe, IA. Darrell started working for I-Go van lines. He was united in marriage to Frances Thrift on July 13, 1958 in Blencoe. Darrell served in the United States Army from 1959-1962. After returning from the service, Darrell returned to work for I-Go in Omaha, NE which is an agent of United Van Lines, where he spent 45 years. While driving for United, he was the Nebraska truck driver of the year twice and logged over 3 million miles. While living in Omaha, Darrell was very involved with the Hillside Little League, and spent countless hours in the gym watching his daughter play volleyball. After retirement, he and Frances moved to Owatonna in 2001 when his involvement with the grandchildren and their friends began, from sporting events to hauling children to different games or practices. In his spare time, he would help his son in law with building projects.
He is survived by his wife Frances Nuzum of Owatonna, son Jay Nuzum of Omaha, daughter, Allie (Rick) Majerus of Owatonna, five grandchildren Jenifer (Wayne) McDonald, Kyle Nuzum, Kayce Majerus, Luke Majerus, and Jake Majerus. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren Austin, Haylie, Colton, and Michael.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday April 23, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with funeral services to follow at 4:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home.
