Darrell R. Walker, 73, of Owatonna, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his home in Owatonna surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 9, 1938 in Merton Township , the son of John and Lillian (Cruikshank) Walker. Darrell attended country school and graduated from OHS in 1955, and entered the United States Navy where he served for three years. Darrell married Janice Redning February 20, 1960 at Norseland Lutheran Church near St. Peter. Darrell and Janice farmed for a few years in Merton Township, and then Darrell owned and operated Walker Realty in Faribault for twenty five years. The couple moved to Owatonna in 2007 from their home on French Lake. Darrell was a member at St. John Lutheran Church where he was an usher, involved with Adult Bible Study and fellowship. Darrell loved life and his main hobby was people, especially his grandchildren and nieces and nephews, family were most important in his life. He also enjoyed fishing, created beautiful wood bowls and pens, and also worked with stained glass. A perfect day for Darrell was meeting friends for coffee, gardening, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Janice Walker of Owatonna, daughter, Tammy (and Dan) Mott of Eagan, son, Scott (and Cathy) Walker of Lakeville, five grandchildren Sarah, Megan, and Ryan Mott and Emily and Grace Walker. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (and Bonnie) Walker of Owatonna, sisters, Marian Schull of Owatonna, Noreen (and John) Story of Kenyon, and Darlene (and Ron) Abbe of Owatonna, and numerous nieces and nephews, sister in law Marna Walker of Zumbrota. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jerry and Richard and one sister Ardella Gillard. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday April 13, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. John Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
