David A. Henke, 49, of Owatonna, received his Eternal Inheritance on Sunday, April 5, 2009. He was surrounded by family at his home. David was born December 31, 1959 in Blue Earth, Minnesota the son of Gerald and Evelyn (Parks) Henke. David graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1979 and then attended Mankato AVTI where he studied in sales and marketing. He was united in marriage to Christine Bahls on July 10, 1982 in Winnebago, MN. He worked for seven years in Coon Rapids for Sport About and for Del Mar Window Fashions. David then worked for Levelor Home Fashion/Newell Rubbermaid until 2005. He then was employed by World Kitchen. They moved to Owatonna in 1990 where they became members at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. There he was active with church activities. Dave''s life mission was to always do what''s right and support the ones you love. He lived this out daily in his family life, work life and friendships. Dave felt 'nothing means anything if you do not have love for one another'. He strove to be kind and a source of strength for all of his family, friends , and even strangers. He was a man of great faith who loved his Lord and Savior. His two and a half year battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew him. Although it ravaged his body, his gentle, kind and compassionate spirit preserved. Dave will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his unique terms of endearment, and his servant heart. He enjoyed cooking, home improvement, shopping with the women in his life, and being outside. His greatest joy was spending time with family and doting on his wife and daughters, who will miss him greatly. He is survived by his wife Christine Henke of Owatonna; four daughters, Jenna (and Matthew) Lundberg of Owatonna; Cassandra (and Brian) DeLaitsch of St. Louis Park; Anna Henke of Owatonna; Ellaina Henke of Owatonna; his parents, Gerald and Evelyn Henke of Blue Earth; four brothers, Steven (and Nancy) Henke of Baxter; Craig (and Robin) Henke of North Mankato; Dale (and Lynda) Henke of Blue Earth; Jon (and Erica) Henke of Brainerd. David was preceded in death by his daughter Emma Grace Henke Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with The Reverend Mark Rosenau and Greg Shlicker officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Owatonna and Owatonna Hospice.
