David George Inman, 79, of Kenyon, died on September 18, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis.

He was born April 2, 1947, in Northfield, the son of Frederick and Kathleen (Sacht) Inman. David grew up in Dundas until the age of five, when his family moved to Minneapolis. He graduated from Spring Lake Park High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his service, David served as a Policeman, spending a time of that in Vietnam. David retired from the military in 1986, and at the age of 44, he attended college and earned an associate degree.

David was a kind, but simple man. He loved fishing with his best friend, Lou Schmidt and cherished his time spent as a Life member of the Kenyon VFW, member of the Kenyon American Legion, and was honored to spend a lot of his time burying veterans through the Kenyon Color Guard. With his passion for his military service, David was one of the found members to help fund and establish the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Preston, where he will be buried with his fellow veterans. During his years, David wrote his life story about his military service which he had four copies printed for his family and the Kenyon VFW to help others understand his commitment to his country.

Family and friends would call him humble; he was someone who would help everyone without asking for anything in return. David gave and donated his time and money to support fellow Kenyon community members, whether it was through helping neighbors with bills, giving money to families so they could feed children, and making sure families had money for the holidays and other items they needed. He has touched the lives of several people and has made several wonderful friends along the way.

David is survived by his children, Christine and David; three grandchildren; siblings, Donna Johnson, Sharill Smith, and Debra Inman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Irene (and Sam) Woolfe; and brother-in-law, Mike Smith.

Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Preston. Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Kenyon VFW starting at 1PM.
