David R. 'Joe' Wilday 81, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House. He was born April 10, 1930 in Woodville Township the son of Lawrence and Grace (Leslie) Wilday. Joe attended country school in Waseca County, and started working for area farmers before serving in the United States Army. He later married Harriet Harlicker on March 29, 1952 in Owatonna. He was co-owner of Mike's Bar in Owatonna, and he also worked at Gandy's, OTC, Nelsons County Market and installed monuments. Joe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Elks, Eagles, Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, gardening, playing cards, bowling, and telling and hearing a good joke. He is survived by two sisters Loretta Linders of Owatonna, Doris (and Don) Molle of Wabasha, and one brother George Wilday of Owatonna. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Harriet, two sons Kenneth and Robert, one brother Ray Wilday, and one sister Florence Wilson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday October 23, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday October 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Area Hospice or the Trinity Lutheran Church Pre-School.
