David Edward Knudsen, 100, of West Concord, died Friday, March 14, 2008 at Kenyon Sunset Home. He was born November 15, 1907 in Cherry Grove Township the son of Peter and Mary (Bury) Knudsen. David married Elvera M. Lips October 5, 1929 at the George Lips residence. The couple lived in the West Concord area following their marriage. After his wife preceded him in death in 1992, David remained in West Concord and spent the last four years of his life at the Circle Drive Manor just outside of West Concord. David was a carpenter working for himself and various construction companies. He worked on the Alaskan Highway building barracks and also worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway project. He and his wife together were hired to do numerous interior redecorating jobs. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and searching for arrowheads. Deer hunting trips with family and friends always included his cooking meals for everyone. He built his own cabin on Lake Mazaska near Faribault. David always had a huge garden to help provide for his family. He is survived by daughters, Audrey (and Hilton) Vold of Kenyon, Phyllis (and friend Levern Hanson) Jones of West Concord, Donna (and Lee) Mailhot of Concord, NH, Kay (and Dean) Wright of West Concord; his son, Gary (and friend Edith Schnittjer) Knudsen of West Concord; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 5 step great great grandchildren; sister, Mary Kreft of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and 4 sisters. Visitation will be at Concord Church of Christ on Tuesday from 10-11 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Concord Church of Christ. Burial will be in the spring in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.
