David 'Red' L. Meyer, 61, of Kenyon, died Monday, October 17, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was born November 28, 1949 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Luverne and Lorraine (Carlson) Meyer. Red attended Kenyon High School and got a job as a line man for the utility company in Kenyon. He married Cindy Peterson on November 27, 1976 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon. Red loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and even snapping a few pictures too. His back yard was his oasis, with nature surrounding him. His dogs meant the world to him, and he enjoyed the sight of wild flowers. He was a good cook too, and created "Silver Back BBQ Sauce". Red loved the company of others. He is survived by his wife Cindy Meyer; mother, Lorraine Meyer; sons, Ben (and Tami) Meyer; Aaron Meyer; and John (and Vanessa) Meyer; sister, Robin (and Kim) Olson; brother, Terry (and Sue) Meyer; granddaughter, Ava Meyer; and grandsons, Brayton and Collin Meyer. He was preceded in death by his father Luverne Meyer; his brother Tim Meyer; his nephew Jason Meyer; and his sister-in-law Annette Engel. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Friday October 21, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A celebration of Red''s life will be held at his home Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Luther Mathsen officiating.
