Obituary

David L.Hollister 73, of Owatonna, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at his home. He was born September 29, 1937 in Canton, Illinois the son of Paul and Juanita (Wilkins) Hollister. David grew up in Fairview, Ill, and joined the United States Navy after high school and served four years on the ship USS Gatling. Upon return to Fairview he met and married Rosemary Wilcox on April 14, 1961. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this April. After marriage they moved to Farmington, Ill. and David worked for Allis Chalmers Mfg. Co. in Peoria, Ill as a parts manager from 1961 to 1965. After a promotion to sales manager in 1966 they moved to Cissna Park, Ill. In 1975 David was promoted to Dealer Development and they moved to Pekin, Ill, and then he was transferred to Urbandale, IA in 1982until 1984when they moved to Owatonna as Vice President of sales and marketing for Owatonna Manufacturing Company until they were purchased by another company. David went into sales and marketing for Retrofit Recycling in 1995 until he retired in 2004. He belonged to the American Legion and enjoyed having coffee at twelve, where he and his retired friends could retell their experiences in the service and come up with solutions to the problems in the world today. He is survived by his wife Rosemary Hollister of Owatonna, daughter, Teresa (and Todd) Rogers of Concord, NC, son, David (and Rosalinda) Hollister of Owatonna, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Paul (and Redonda) Hollister of Marthasville, MO and two sisters, Sandra Anderson of Chandler, IN and Cathy (and Ray) Love of Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant baby boy. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Monday May 9, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Donn Kittle officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna with military honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
