David Lee Morris, 84, of Kenyon, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
He was born January 11, 1934 in Dawson, Nebraska the son of Evan and Mabel (Grush) Morris. David graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1951. He attended York College in Nebraska prior to his service in the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1953 to 1957 stationed in Ardmore, OK where he worked on aircraft engines. On May 5, 1955 David married Dixie Yvonne Trammell at Ardmore Airforce Base. The couple moved back to Nebraska in 1957 and farmed until 1963 when he began his career with Peoples Natural Gas. He worked with Peoples Natural Gas in Nebraska until 1968 when he transferred to Kenyon and later retired in 1995. David was a volunteer fireman in Nebraska and Kenyon. In retirement, he worked for the Kenyon Sunset Home until his most recent hospitalization.
David cherished time with his family. Most of the things he enjoyed, he enjoyed due to his family's involvement. He loved camping, fishing, being outdoors, participating in plays and musicals and repairing airplanes. David enjoyed watching football and was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers and Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved his small dogs; Tinkerbelle, Dude, Buttons, Molly and Maggie.
He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Sue (and Jeffrey) Streitz of LeCenter; sons, Robert (and Linda) Morris of Kasson, Jim (and Brenda) Morris of Faribault; grandchildren, Peter Streitz, Samuel (and Katie) Streitz, Matthew (and Ellie Olson) Streitz, Heidi Morris, Evan (and Megan Becker) Morris, Adam (and Tiffany Bratsch) Morris, Logan (and Fiance Kate Hannasch) Morris; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Anastasha, Axel, Carson Streitz; sisters, Margaret Leete of Apache Junction, AZ, Jean Harper of Longmont, CO; sister-in-law, Dean Suddath of Seattle and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Morris and nephew, Jeff Suddath.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm and at United Methodist Church, Kenyon on Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:30am at United Methodist Church, Kenyon with Reverend Dana Houck officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon.
