David L. Picha, 81, of Mankato, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Harry Meyering Center, Mankato. David was born November 5, 1930 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Lawrence and Eloise (Gorman) Picha. He attended school in Kenyon until his sophomore year. He then lived in Cambridge and Faribault. David's passion for learning never ceased though later receiving his GED at the age of 70. David worked at Mankato Rehabilitation Center Incorporated (MRCI). David enjoyed playing chess, reading, bargain hunting, civil war history, politics and cooking. Dave leaves behind many current and former staff at the Harry Meyering Center who will always remember him for his generosity, modesty, sharp wit, cooking out of the ordinary dishes, joking nature and endearing expressions. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Marion Picha. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Harry Meyering Center, 109 Homestead Rd in Mankato. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 3:30 PM in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon. Memorials are preferred to Mankato GED Testing Center. Arrangements are with the Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon.
