David Dave Paul Schirmacher, 78, of Owatonna, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Owatonna Hospital. He was born May 30, 1940, in Faribault, Minnesota the son of Paul and Ethel (Fremouw) Schirmacher. After high school, Dave served in both the U.S. Navy (on the destroyer ship Maddox) and also with the U.S. Marines. Dave and Pat Kaderlik were married in 1963 and later divorced. On October 6, 1984, Dave married Diane (Braun) in Montgomery, MN. Dave worked various jobs over the years including Land O'Lakes and most recently as an over the road driver before his retirement. Dave enjoyed shooting pool, coaching others and spending time with the extended pool family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Diane Schirmacher of Owatonna; children, Laura (Ike) Matson of Elroy, WI, Bryan (Deb) Schirmacher of Owatonna, Shelly (Paul) Ryan of Faribault, David (Janel) Schirmacher of Kenyon, Amy (Andrew) Bergemann of Northfield and Adam (Kyra Loch) of Thornton, CO; sister, Marie Berry of Chaska; brother, Roger Schirmacher of Austin, TX; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Al and an infant grandson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Thursday, July 5th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at church on Friday one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Weisenburger officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Church or the donor's preference.
