David Wilton Vrieze, 80, of West Concord, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester MN. He was born March 9, 1938 in Dodge County to Wilton Bud and Doris (Erickson) Vrieze. David graduated from West Concord in 1956. He played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. After graduation, David enlisted in the Army. On September 12, 1959 David married Linda Halla at West Concord United Methodist Church and made West Concord their home. He was a dairy cattle dealer in West Concord for 53 years and was a West Concord Fire Department volunteer for 28 years. David was the treasurer for the West Concord Fireman Relief Association. He was a life member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. In 2014, he was inducted into the Triton Athletic Hall of Fame. David loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening, feeding birds, cruising the country roads looking at crops and for deer. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and watching the Twins, Gophers and Vikings. David is survived by his wife, Linda Vrieze; daughter, Sharon(Craig) Dahms; sons, Brian (Michelle) Vrieze, Lance (Julie) Vrieze, Bruce (Vicky) Vrieze; grandchildren, Derek (Jenn) Vrieze, Mike Vrieze, Kayla Vrieze, Marissa (Elliott) Jenneman, Garrett Dahms, Ben Vrieze, Josh Vrieze, Isaac Bahr, Noah Koenig, Noelle Koenig; sister, Donna Dohrmann; brothers, Lawrence (Peggy) Vrieze, Roger Vrieze; 2 great-grandchildren, Emmitt Vrieze and Brooke Vrieze. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Vrieze; sister, Marian Olson; brother-in-law, Bob Dohrmann; sister-in-law,Vivian Vrieze. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm on November 1st at the Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel and from 10:00 to 11:00 Friday November 2nd at the United Methodist Church, West Concord.
