David Leonard Wetzstein, 85, of rural West Concord, died on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

He was born July 9, 1940, in Owatonna, the son of Leonard and Olive (Strandemo) Wetzstein. He attended school in West Concord and graduated from Waseca Ag School.

David was united in marriage to Nancy Lou Quam on Saturday, June 9, 1962, at Dale Lutheran Church in Kenyon. He was a dairy and crop farmer in West Concord for most of his life. He also worked for KSW Roofing and Wencl Plumbing.

David was a lifetime member of Moland Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Dodge County Fair Board, Ellington Township Board for 50 years, and showed Brown Swiss cows for 4-H.

He enjoyed fishing at Crow Duck Lake in Canada, hunting, playing cards, trips to Diamond Jo's, traveling with Nancy, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and attending his son and grandson's stock car racing.

David is survived by his daughter, Kim (Dale) Urban of Dodge Center; sons, Steve (Karen) Wetzstein of West Concord and Mark Wetzstein; four grandchildren, Derek Thaden, Kyle Thaden (friend, Christine Patzner), Ashley Thaden (fiancé, Justin Johnson), and Ryan Wetzstein (friend, Elizabeth Klocke); one great-grandchild, Brantley Thaden; a close cousin who was like a brother to David, Allen Wetzstein (friend, Bonnie Otto) of Kenyon; sisters, Marilyn (Wayne) Rasmussen and Carolyn (Tom) Carlson; sister-in-law, Sharon Ness; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy in 2006.

Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Friday, February 27, 2026, at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Moland Lutheran Church in rural Kenyon. Interment will be in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the West Concord Ambulance Service.
