Dean A. Larson, 69, of Owatonna, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at his home. He was born December 30, 1938 in Owatonna, the son of Manual and Magdalen (Kubat) Larson. Dean attended Blooming Prairie and Owatonna schools. He graduated from Waseca Ag school in 1958. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He married Helen West, September 10, 1964 in Arlington, VA. They later divorced. Dean married Eileen Eidem Mielke on March 3, 1973 in Owatonna. Dean worked as a mechanic for several years and later worked 30 years with Flom Plumbing. His passion was driving semi truck along with his co-pilot 'Petie' for Dietz Trucking of Faribault. Dean was a member of Christian Family Church and was an usher and greeter. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, working on cars/tractors, gardening and birds. He was known as Mr. 'Fix-It' by many. Dean is survived by his wife, Eileen of Owatonna; 3 step children, Richard (and Sandy) Mielke of Andover, Kimberly J. Karsten and companion Roger A. Schema of West Concord, Mark (and Julie) Mielke of Owatonna; sons, Jim (and DeAnn) Larson of Waseca, Al Larson and companion Patricia Osborne of Blooming Prairie; daughter, Patti (and Jack) Weiland of Mechanicsville, IA; grandchildren, Tyler, Garrett, Taylor and Nathan Larson of Waseca, David (and Christine) Mielke of Ham Lake, Sara (and Matt) Erickson of Bethel, Jason (and Dawn) Karsten of Owatonna, Brandon (and Bobbi Jo) Karsten, Trisha Karsten and companion Chance Lonning of Minot, ND, Steve (and Stephanie) Mielke of Owatonna, Marissa Mielke and companion Mo Abdi of Owatonna; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Mielke of Ham Lake, Lane Karsten of Owatonna and Amelia Mielke of Owatonna; brothers and sisters, Lynell (and Larry) Bison of Minneapolis, Evon (and Duane) Wobschall of Owatonna, Joan (and Russell) Christianson of Clinton, MO, Ida (and Irvin) Wagner of Osage, IA, Duane (and Eileen) Larson of Owatonna, Donna (and Vince) Hunt of Owatonna, Vicki (and Lloyd) Wimer of Owatonna and Daniel Larson of Owatonna. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Larson of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Lila Sprague. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at 10:30 AM at Bethel Church in Owatonna. Dr. Tim and Pastor Cherrie Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery with military honors provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
