DeLoris E. Caron, 90, of Owatonna, died Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Timberdale Trace.
She was born May 19, 1929 near Estherville, Iowa the daughter of Richard A. and Birdie Emma (Spracklin) Gage. At an early age she moved with her parents to southwestern Minnesota. There she attended District 75 school in Martin County and later graduated from Truman High School in 1947. DeLoris moved to Owatonna in 1948. On June 29, 1949 DeLoris Gage married Hilaire E. Caron. They lived in Owatonna and raised a family of six sons. In her younger years DeLoris was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a life member. She was a life member of the VFW auxiliary, a charter member of the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary and spent 21 years as a volunteer for CONTACT Steele County. She loved to read and cook for her large family. In 1968 she went to work for the Minnesota Department of Transportation retiring in 1994. After retirement she was active at Senior Place, Red Hat Society, Book Clubs, St. Joseph Church, Steele County Food Shelf, Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary and the VFW.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen (and Alvin Hanes) Caron of Spokane, WA, Michael (and Joan) Caron of Owatonna, Timothy (and Arlene) Caron of Owatonna, Gregory (and Linda) Caron of Lee's Summit, MO, Theodore (and Lena) Caron of Kenosha, WI, Andrew (and Calley) Caron of Deer River; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Katie Gage of Casa Grande, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilaire "Hilary" Caron; sisters, Geraldine Stroud, Orpha Paape.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:30am to 10:30am. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father James Starasinich officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the VFW Auxiliary, Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters or to the donor's choice.
