Obituary

Deloris L. Nelson, 91, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. Deloris was born on June 20, 1927, in Triumph Village, Martin, Minnesota to Andrew and Elaina (Conger) Baago. She lived in Welcome, Blue Earth and Fairmont. She accepted the Lord as Savior while living in Blue Earth. She went to school in Fairmont where she graduated from high school. She was in the band and orchestra and city band playing French horn. Graduation was a traumatic experience as several in her class were missing because of the war. She continued her education in Mankato where she graduated from Business College. Following her schooling, she went to work at Queen Stove in Albert Lea. She met Manford Nelson while attending Calvary Baptist Church. The couple was married on August 22, 1948, and moved to the farm in Alden. Having grown up as an only child and grandchild, she was so thankful for the Nelson family welcoming her into their family. He mother-in-law taught her much about canning, gardening and working on the farm. The couple was blessed with three children. In 1956, the family moved to a farm between Austin and Albert Lea in Moscow Township in Freeborn County. Deloris eventually went to work at Zellar Tire in Hollandale. The family was very active at First Baptist Church in Oakland and at the Moscow 4H club. Deloris was a youth leader, Sunday School teacher and a 4H leader. Upon the sale of the farm1973, the family moved to Owatonna where she was a bank teller in several local banks. The family attended and was active in Grace Baptist Church in Owatonna. After Manford died, she gladly traveled whenever invited. Eventually, she sold her home in Owatonna and lived in Menomonie with her son, Mitchell and his wife, Lex, or in Crosby near her daughter, Maxine. When it became too difficult to travel between her two children, she moved into the Care Center in Crosby where she lived for six years. She is survived by her children, Maxine (and Gerald) Fisher of Crosby and Mitchell (and Alexia) Nelson of Menomonie, WI; 9 grandchildren, Nathan (and Thersa) Fisher, Daniel (and Amy) Fisher, Mark (and Rebecca) Ridlon, James (and Christ) Nelson, Adam (and Suzette) Herr , Ben (and Lacy) Nelson, Joshua (and Kristin) Morell, Kaleb (and Heather) Morell and Mark (and Amber) Morell; 27 great grandchildren, Trevor Fisher, Thomas Fisher, Kassandra Fisher, Aedan Fisher, Angel Fisher, Liam Fisher, Gabriel Ridlon, Elisha Ridlon, Naomi Ridlon, Dani Nelson, Corban, Nelson, Jadon Nelson, Jeuel Nelson, Carmi Nelson, Samuel Herr, Elisabeth Herr, Owen Nelson, Madelyn Nelson, Ean Nelson, Lydia Nelson, William Morell, Claire Morell, Michael Morell, Andrew Morell, Moses Morell, Sawyer Morell and May Morell.
