Deloris Jean Velzke, 75, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born June 4, 1944 in Aurora Township, Steele County, Minnesota the daughter of Raymond and Emogene (Carlson) Anderson. She grew up on a farm in Aurora Township and graduated from Dodge Center High School, Class of 1962. On July 28, 1962, she married Phil Velzke at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their three children, Dawn, Dean and Deanne. Deloris worked for Federated, took a break to raise her children and later worked in Home Healthcare. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church serving in many different areas. Deloris loved family, people and life. Nearly everything she enjoyed doing involved doing those things with people. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, sewing, baking, gardening, music, attending plays, and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and trips to Branson and up north to Two Inlets where the men would fish and the ladies would shop. She is survived by her husband Phil Velzke of Owatonna; children, Dawn (and Jonathan) Marxhausen of Woodbury; Dean (and Kelly) Velzke of Owatonna and Deanne (and John) Nierengarten of Aurora, CO; 9 grandchildren, Ethan Marxhausen (and Azeria Buening), Hannah (and Jake) Cabak, Caleb Marxhausen, Leah Marxhausen, Bri (and Isaac) Bergstrom, Justin Velzke, Taylor Velzke, Benjamin Nierengarten, Kathryn Nierengarten (and Ryan Kelso) and great-grandson, Leon Marxhausen. She was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Emogene Anderson and her brother, Roger Anderson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00-7:00 PM and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00-11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with The Reverend Greg Schlicker and The Reverend Mark Neumann officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Bixby. Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic Hospice.
