Denny Andersen, 88, of Owatonna, died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Brooks in Owatonna.
Dennis Edwin Andersen, the son of Andrew and Clara (Rustin) Andersen, was born on April 29, 1934, in Dell Rapids, SD. He grew up in Elkton, SD on the family farm. Denny worked on the family farm until he entered the US Army. After being discharged in 1962, he owned and operated a service station in Brookings, SD. On August 13, 1961, he was united in marriage to Maria "Rea" Fulmer in Brookings, SD. They lived in Montana for seven years and Denny worked for Schwan's Company setting up service routes. In 1979, they moved to Owatonna where they have made their home for the past 40 years. He continued to work for Schwan's as a route driver and then as warehouse manager. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States from Alaska to Arizona. He was an active member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on the council and doing maintenance.
Dennis is survived by his children, Les (Luann) Andersen of Fenton, IA, Lonny (Julia) Andersen of Owatonna and Lynda (J.D.) Kuplic of Apple Valley; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister Joyce Becker of Oldham, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maria, and brothers Jerry and Jules Andersen.
Visitation will be at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial service will be held June 27, 2022, at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Roger Rockhoff officiating. Interment will be in Owatonna Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
