Dennis Eugene Millam, 85, passed away December 25, 2021 at the New Richland Care Center in New Richland, MN.
Dennis was born in Mille Lacs County North of Milaca, MN on June 8,1936 to Clifford and Donna (Anderson) Millam. By 1940 the family moved to Merton Township near the Anderson homestead where he loved to play as a child. In the early fifties the family moved to Austin then he enlisted in the army by the mid-fifties and was stationed in Germany. He loved traveling in Europe during this time and upon his return to Austin entertained the family with his slides of Paris.
Dennis worked for the Austin Daily Herald and the Albert Lea Tribune. While living in Albert Lea he joined the Albert Lea Community Theatre, having a small role in its first production of "The Man Who Came to Dinner." In 1967 Dennis joined the staff of the local newspaper in New Albany, IN, while living in Louisville, KY. He enjoyed attending the Kentucky Derby and exploring caves in Kentucky. Dennis moved back to Austin in 1982 where he managed Johnson Floral in Albert Lea and worked for the Albert Lea School District. He eventually moved to Albert Lea and briefly rejoined the theater group. In his last few years he lived at The Cedars of Austin.
Dennis is survived by his brothers Ronald (Mary) Millam of Edwardsville, IL; Steven (Rita) Millam of Blooming Prairie; sisters Sandra (Larry) Murphy of Lyle; Connie (Dennis) Johnson of Eugene, OR. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember getting rides when Dennis would buy a new auto.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dallas Millam; sister, Cynthia Millam.
It is bittersweet that Dennis left us on Christmas Day, as he delighted in making the holiday so joyous for us all.
