Dennis Lee Peterson, 70, of Owatonna, died August 6, 2015 at his home in Owatonna. Dennis was born January 23, 1945 in Albert Lea, Minnesota the son of Leonard and Jorgina (Kloster) Peterson. He grew up in Lake Mills, Iowa and graduated from Lake Mills High School. Dennis married Wilma Schabacker on March 27, 1965 in Austin, Minnesota. They resided in Austin for a short time before moving to Owatonna. Dennis worked at Jostens in tool and dye and then as a stone setter for 17 years. He then went to work at Wenger in tool and dye for over 30 years, until his retirement. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. Dennis enjoyed taking his family on camping trips and spending time at their cabin in Brainerd. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Dennis loved canning anything pickled and had his own special recipe for sauerkraut. He was a past member of the Eagles and Owatonna Gun Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wilma Peterson of Owatonna; children, Shawn (and Mike) Russell of Owatonna, Doug Peterson of Owatonna, and Sara (and Barry) Lutteke of Ellendale; six grandchildren, Burgin Russell (and Jordan Wente), Justine Russell (and Alex Routh), Molly Russell, (and Travis Hammermeister), Christian Russell, Kameron and Mariah Lutteke; two great grandchildren; Alexandar and Evelyn Saufferer; sister, LaVonne Thompson of Forest City, IA; two nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Claire Thompson. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, Owatonna with The Reverend Dave Klawiter officiating.
