Deuel William Potter, 82, of Owatonna, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his home.
He was born on July 22, 1942, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and was adopted by Raymond and Agnes Potter and grew up in Glendale, California. Deuel enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in October of 1960, and served at several stations on both the East and West Coasts. The place he recalled with the most fondness was Ketchikan, Alaska.
On June 8, 1968, Deuel married Delores Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford, Minnesota. He studied electronic communications at Mankato Technical College in 1970, before working for the phone company for most of his career.
Deuel had many interests and hobbies such as woodworking, baking bread, grilling, storm chasing, gardening, and photography. He was also a Ham Radio operator. In recent years, Deuel was reunited with and enjoyed getting to know his extended biological family.
He is survived by their three daughters, Dawn (Drew) Campbell of Mankato; DarciAnn Potter (Graham Herceg) of Minneapolis; and Darla Innes of Minneapolis; three step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his his wife, Delores; parents, Raymond and Lucille Potter; Agnes (Erickson) Potter; Wilbert Spiering; and Lillian (Braun) D'Andrea.
Visitation will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 9:30AM to 11:00AM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Reverend Greg Schlicker officiating. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens in Owatonna.
