Obituary

Dexter Christopher Craft, 68, of Claremont, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born December 9, 1952 in Minneapolis the son of Donald and Doris (Vikingson) Craft. He grew up in Richfield where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1970 to 1973 and then in the Active Reserves until 1976. Dexter's work career included LeMaster Fire Restoration, assembly of Huffy bikes in the upper Midwest, well drilling, and then owning and operating three businesses; a trucking and refuse hauling business, a general contracting business and a computer ink cartridge refilling business. He enjoyed any to do with NASCAR, gold prospecting and collecting crystals, spending time at the family cabin on the west side of Lake Mille Lacs and woodworking. He had a great sense of humor and had a lot of great one-line comebacks. He is survived by, companion, Deborah Ellis of Claremont; sons, Shawn (Kerri) Craft of Annandale and Gregory Craft of Minneapolis; brother, David (Brooke Smith) Craft of Carson City, NV; grandchildren, Jordan Craft and Carlye Craft and Deborah's children and grandchildren, Brad (Crystal) Ellis of Owatonna, Tamara (Caleb) Korpi of Claremont and Brittany Ellis and Dylan Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris Craft. A private inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
