Don H. Schelin, 80, of Owatonna, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Owatonna Commons. Don was born February 1, 1928 in Litchfield, Minnesota the son of Harvey and Verna (Bomsta) Schelin. He moved with his family to Michigan and they returned back to Minnesota where Don graduated from Litchfield High School in 1946. Don entered the United States Army in 1946 and served two years. Part of that time was serving in Okinawa. He then continued serving in the United States Army Reserve and was called back to service in 1950 when he began serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge Don moved back to Minnesota where he worked for Northern States Power in St. Cloud. He lived in Oklahoma and then Kansas before moving to Chicago, Illinois in 1977. Don moved back to Minnesota in 1986 making his home in Owatonna. Don was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Elks 1395. He enjoyed playing pool in league and in tournaments and would help at Weber''s. He is survived by two daughters, Anna (and Randy) Beckett of Owatonna; Teresha (and Gary) Smith of Owatonna; two sons, Gary (and Kathy) Schelin of Faribault; Greg (and Michelle) Schelin of LeSeuer; brother, Wayne (and Joanne) Schelin of Rowlett, TX; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-6pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 6:00pm at Michaelson Funeral Home with The Reverend Julie Malone officiating.
