Donald Luverne Clemmensen, 87, of Medford, Minnesota died Monday, October 28, 2013, at Koda Living Community with his wife, Lorraine at his side. Donald was born February 27, 1926, on the family farm near Pratt, Minnesota the son of Richard and Edith (Schrom) Clemmensen. He attended country school near Aurora and one year at Owatonna High School. He helped work on the family farm. He met his future wife Lorraine Borchert at a dance. Donald and Lorraine were united in marriage on April 9, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Blooming Prairie. From this union the couple had one son, Darrell. They farmed for 20 years together on Donald''s parent''s farm. He then became a deputy sheriff for Steele County and served as deputy sheriff for 32 years. Donald then was a self employed carpenter building houses. Donald really enjoyed hunting and fishing. He traveled up to Northern Minnesota where he would hunt deer. He also enjoyed working in his yard. Donald served for 17 years on the Medford City Council and served as the water and wastewater commissioner. He was community minded and helped with Straight River Days and other community events. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Lorraine Clemmensen of Medford; a special niece Jean Hensrud of Owatonna as well as other nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a son Dr. Darrell Clemmensen in 1996; his parents and a sister and brother-in-law Margie and Palmer Hensrud. Visitation will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on Friday, November 1, 2013, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend John Weisenburger officiating.
