Obituary

Donald E. Peterson, 80, of Hurst, TX, formerly of Medford, MN, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at St. Mary''s Hospital, Rochester, MN. Donald was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Nicollet County, the son of Dewey and Luella (Ginkel) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in Bernadotte Lutheran Church. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1946. Don then enlisted in the Army and served as a staff sergeant in the post master general''s office in Italy. Upon his discharge he was employed by Mueller Well Company. Don was united in marriage to Kathleen Mueller on Sept. 9, 1951. He then pursued a career in insurance, banking, and real estate. In 1982 the Petersons moved to Texas and started antique malls in Houston and Dallas. They later moved to Mesa, AZ where they made their home for many years. Last year they moved back to Texas to be close to family. Don was active in the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, and the Zuhrah Shrine Temple and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the VFW and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Richland Hills, TX. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Peterson of Hurst, TX; one son Scott (Diane) Peterson of Slidell, LA; four daughters Kristi (Tom) Krause and Sandra (John) Haines of Owatonna, MN; Andrea (Greg) Fedeli of Brooklyn Park, MN; Rebecca (Larry) Green of Fort Worth, TX; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Etter, Joel Peterson, Kelly (Stacy) Just, Kara (Jason) McPipe, Kim Krause, Adam Peterson, Alex Roberts, Nick Roberts, Jesse Evans, Jason Evans, Dexter Green, Lawrence Green, and Ezekiel Green; one great-grandson, Jacob Just; one brother Lester (Betty) Peterson; three sisters, Donna (Richard) Muck; Darlene (Kenneth) Voss; and Myra Lee (Roy) Bevis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Luella Peterson; a brother Gerald Peterson; and a sister DeLores Petterson.
