Donald 'Donnie' J. Walker, 77, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Homestead Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 26, 1934 in Dodge Center, Minnesota the son of John and Lillian (Cruikshank) Walker. He married LaVonne "Bonnie" Smith on December 10, 1955. He farmed in Moland and owned Kenyon Farm Service, Walker Farm Store and Walker Feeders. Donnie eventually retired on Cass Lake in northern Minnesota where he loved the lake view and the fishing. He returned to southern Minnesota to be closer to family and friends. He enjoyed their company and fellowship. Donnie took up gardening and wood working while in retirement. He gave his time and attention to many people in his life. He is survived by his wife LaVonne 'Bonnie' Walker of Owatonna; son, Darrin Walker of Minneapolis sister, Marian Schull of Owatonna, Noreen (and John) Story of Kenyon, Darlene (and Ron) Abbe of Owatonna; sisters in law, Ann Walker of Owatonna, Marna Walker of Zumbrota, Janice Walker of Owatonna, Mary Ella Kornman of Brighton, CO; brother in law, Lewis Jr. (and Joanne) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John Walker; his mother Lillian Walker; his brothers, Gerald, Richard, Darrell Walker; sister, Ardella Gillard; brothers in law, Don Evans, Burnell Schull, Tom Gillard, John Kornman; Nephew, Kevin Walker; great great nephew, Jaydon Henderson. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 from 10-11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church 1301 Lincoln Ave. Owatonna. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery in Richland Township. Memorials are preferred to Homestead Hospice House or St. John Lutheran Church. Michaelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
