Donald Eugene Karsten, age 84, of Medford, Minnesota, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Donald was born July 9, 1931 in Deerfield Township, Minnesota, to Harold and Candace (Crandall) Karsten. Donald attended District 42 and 2 Country School. He married Carol Gasner on November 8, 1952 at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church where they were both members. Donald worked as an engineer technician for Owatonna Manufacturing Company for 30 years and as a supervisor at Owatonna Small Engines. He was also a former Eagles Club member in Owatonna and Vice President of Mork's Ulcer Department. In every job that Donald undertook, he was dedicated and hard working. He never did things halfway and always made sure he did the job right the first time. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carol Karsten of Medford; son, James (Mary) Karsten of New Richland; son, Christ (Cindy) Karsten of Faribault; son, Walter (Nancy) Karsten of Owatonna; daughter, Dawn (Phil) Nauman of Ostrander; daughter, Denise Combs of Waseca; daughter, Carolyn (Ronald) Engebretson of Owatonna; daughter-in-law, Dusty Karsten; brother, Harley (Sue) Karsten; brother, Steve (Brenda) Karsten; sister-in-law, Peggy Karsten; sister-in-law, Zona Karsten; sister-in-law, Sylvia Karsten; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Karsten; brother, John Karsten; brother, Richard Karsten; brother Marvin Karsten; and 2 infant grandchildren. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Sunday, October 11 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church in Waseca County at 11:00 am with Pastor Cindy Kennedy officiating.
