Obituary

Donald Carl Radtke, 83, of Owatonna, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at his home. He was born February 10, 1933 in Iosco Township the son of Carl and Gladys (Rocek) Radtke. Donald graduated from Waseca High School with the Class of 1951. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. While in the service he married Arlane Gasner on September 8, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Arlane preceded him in death in 2007. He married Margot Munson October 3, 2008 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Don attended Austin Junior College, University of Minnesota and graduated from St. Thomas. Don worked for Truth Hardware for 24 years retiring in 1995. In retirement he was the facility manager for Morehouse Place. He served on the Claremont Fire & Rescue Squad, was a member of the American Legion, volunteered with the Boy Scout's and was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Don enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting, camping and dancing to old time music, square dancing and polka dancing. Don loved fishing, but no one is sure if he enjoyed the fishing or the fish fry's best. Family gatherings were always very important and what he enjoyed the most. He is survived by his wife, Margot Radtke of Owatonna; children, Paula (and Steve) Madson of Owatonna, Gregg (and Charlotte) Radtke of Owatonna, Gary (and Marj) Radtke of Claremont, Peggy (and Jeff) McConnell of Eyota, Lori Ann (and Richard) Boysen of Hope, Roxanne (and Michael) Dettmer of Owatonna, Wendy (and Keith) Fisher of Plainview, Tom (and Deb) Radtke of Owatonna, Delane (and Raymond) Krier of Millville, MaryAnn (and Steve) Smith of Owatonna, Faye (and Tom) Flemke of Owatonna, Richard Munson of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert (and Vicky) Munson of Dodge Center; 34 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers, Dean (and Mary Lou) Radtke of Bena, Phillip (and Ginny) Radtke of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlane Radtke and son, Glenn Radtke. Visitation will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 10am to 12pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 12pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with The Reverend Karl Korbel officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
