Donald Richard Starks, 90, of Owatonna, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home. Don was born January 7, 1922 in Owatonna the son of Claude and Florence (King) Starks. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1940. He then attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. Don was united in marriage to Jane Luedtke on January 26, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed in Clinton Falls Township. In 1992, they moved to Owatonna, but Don was still active with the farm. He especially enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and was on the state championship team in 1947. Don enjoyed watching sports especially the Twins and Vikings. He was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church. He served as a board member at Steele-Waseca Co-op, ASCS, Central Co-op and Clinton Falls Township. He was a member of the Elks and the Eagles Clubs in Owatonna as well. He rarely missed a morning of coffee with his friends at the Kernel Restaurant. Don always shared that he had three loves in his life; his wife, his family and farming. He is survived by his wife Jane Starks of Owatonna; his children, Terry (and Linda) Starks of Eden Prairie; Dan (and Suzanne) Starks of Lake Elmo; Becky (and Keith ) Johnson of Lake Mills, IA; Doug (and Jodi) Starks of Owatonna; a brother, Tom (and Kathleen) Starks of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren, Alan Starks (and Bobbi Beckfeld); Julie (and Nick) Hewitt; Jodie Starks; Jamie Starks; Brady (and Jessica) Johnson; Kacey (and Mike) Sutter; Dustin , Sam and Jesse Starks. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Wayne Starks. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church with the Reverend Julie Malone officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
