Donavan R. Quimby 88, of West Concord, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Fairview Care Center in dodge Center. He was born August 11, 1924 in Concord Township, Minnesota the son of Ross and Mattie (Martin) Quimby. Donavan attended Fairpoint School, and was then united in marriage to Dolores Meyer March 30, 1951 at St. John Wheeling Church. The couple then lived and farmed in West concord. Donavan retired from farming in 1986 after many years of dedication and devotion to the land and his dairy herd. He enjoyed being around all of his family, and especially his six daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donavan enjoyed making people smile, afternoon visits from friends and family, going dancing and unbelievable luck in the game of 500. Not to mention his many sayings, or one liners that would make anyone chuckle. He is survived by his wife Dolores Quimby of West Concord;, daughters Linda (James) Avery of Owatonna, Judy (Bill)Lambert of West Concord, Debra (Dennis) Johnston of Hayfield, Connie (Glen) Johnston of Owatonna, Kathy (Lee) Thomas of Tulsa, OK, Rhonda (Roger) Toquam of Blooming Prairie. He is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and three sisters in laws Bess Quimby, Addie Quimby, and Norma Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Spreiter, two brothers Orville and Daryl, two brothers in laws Robert Meyer and Art Spreiter. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home West Concord on Monday August 5, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord with The Reverend Chris Brekke officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township. Memorials are preferred to West Concord Fire and Rescue Department or the Concord Cemetery.
